ShimSheets are the flexible, foldable, versatile shims designed for common household fixes, especially windows that won't latch, doors that aren't square, and hardware that needs precise spacing.

Each sheet is 1mm thick, but can be folded along the built-in perforations to increase thickness, and/or snapped apart to get exactly the shape and size you need.

How it works

  • Start at 1mm: each sheet is manufactured to precise thickness.
  • Fold on perforations: fold to increase thickness up to 5mm per shim.
  • Tear to separate: bending back and forth cleanly breaks sections free.
  • Detach what you need: full sheets, strips, or single cells.
  • Screw clearance: openings accommodate screw shaft sizes up to 3.5mm in diameter.

A more energy efficient house in 5 minutes

We created ShimSheets because our house had a window that wouldn't quite close all the way, causing a constant chilly draft. The very first iteration was a simple shim designed specifically to raise the window sash locks a few millimeters. This simple, 5-minute fix made our home safer, more comfortable, and more energy-efficient.

Once we realized how easy it was to make our home more comfortable, we started experimenting with more generic designs that anyone could use to fix drafty or misaligned windows, doors, cabinets, and more.

FAQ

Will these hold up over time?
Yes. Polypropylene is commonly used for shims and spacers and resists cracking and moisture when compressed under frames or screws.

Can I stack instead of folding?
Yes. Sheets and individual pieces can be stacked, folded, or combined.

Are these reusable?
Yes. ShimSheets are perforated for easy folding and snapping, but can be refolded several times without breaking. And if they do break, they can be stacked to reach the desired thickness.
